Vanilla Sauce for Bread Pudding

  • ½ cup sugar
  • ⅛ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 teaspoons vanilla
  1. In a medium size saucepan, add sugar, salt and water. In a small bowl, dissolve cornstarch and water to make a slurry. Set aside.
  2. Bring almost to a boil and add cornstarch mixture. Stir continuously until thickened.
  3. Turn heat to low and add butter and vanilla. Stirring or whisking throughout until blended.
  4. Serve hot over bread pudding.
