Local Style Teriyaki Burgers

Back in the day we used to eat this a lot, especially with a scoop of mac salad. Enjoy!

Teriyaki Burgers
Cuisine: Local Style Recipe
Ingredients
  • Beef Mixture:
  • 1½ pounds ground beef
  • 1½ cups panko, or soft breadcrumbs
  • ½ cup chopped onions
  • 2 eggs, slightly beaten
  • Teriyaki Sauce:
  • ½ cup sugar
  • ⅔ cup soy sauce
  • ⅓ cup water
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons ginger juice
  • 1 clove garlic, crushed
Instructions
  1. Beef mixture In a mixing bowl, break up ground beef and add panko, onions and eggs. Mix together until combined.
  2. Teriyaki sauce Mix sauce ingredients together, until sugar is dissolved. Add ½ cup of the teriyaki sauce to beef mixture and mix together. Form beef mixture into 8 patties.
  3. Place patties onto a baking dish and spoon over remaining teriyaki sauce. Marinate several hours and turn patties over half-way through to coat evenly.
  4. On medium heat add a little oil to frying pan and cook on both sides, then cover and cook until cooked through. You can also grill it, but be careful the teriyaki sauce tends to burn easily.
  5. Bast with any remaining sauce.
