Beef Tomato
Cuisine: Chinese Local Style Recipe
  • Beef marinade:
  • 1 pound sirloin tip, thinly sliced
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 2 teaspoons soy sauce
  • 1½ teaspoons salt
  • 1 sliced ginger
  • Oil for frying
  • Vegetables:
  • 2 stalks celery, sliced diagonally
  • 1 green pepper, sliced diagonally
  • 4 to 5 tomatoes, wedged
  • 2 stalks green onions, cut 1½ inches
  • Gravy:
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • ¾ cup water
  1. Beef marinade: Combine marinade ingredients and mix until well blended. Add sliced meat and marinade about 15 minutes.
  2. Heat a large skillet and then add oil. Stir fry meat quickly until medium rare. Remove from skillet and set aside.
  3. Add more oil to skillet, and add onions, peppers and celery. Stir fry until almost done and add tomatoes.
  4. Next, add gravy mixture and bring to a boil. Add meat and toss with vegetables and gravy. Top with green onions.
